Hi,
I just purchased my first bmw...a 330i, 2001 with 25k. The last changed oil lite comes on when I start the car so I know its time for a change. Question is...can I have the oil changed at a place other than bmw and does the indicator have to be reset.
thanks for your input

You can have it changed elsewhere, and no, the light doesn't have to be reset. If you're out of teh service warranty, then it doesn't matter whether you have it reset or not. If you still have teh service warranty, just have a dealer change the oil cuz it'll be free.

Do it yourself. Very easy and saves you money. BMW filters are good, but other have preferred other brands. I cant remember which. Do a search in these forums, I am sure that this topic has been brought up many times.

You don't have to use BMW filters. I'm not too knowledgeable on filters or oils. If you do a search, you'll find tons of threads arguing the various oils and filters.
