335i black interior??

I'm looking to get a 335i this weekend and I am thinking that crimson red/dakota black leather might be an interesting color combo. I'm told that the leather is now some type of high tech leather that does not heat up in the sun.

I live in Dallas..

has anyone had experience with this new leather? are the claims true?

I like the color combo, but I don't want to get burned..

I doubt black will stay cool in the Texas sun.

Black interiors seem to hide a lot of details.

Beige or grey are nice, especially with the darker wood trim.

I would agree with Kirby, stay away from the black in the hot sun. I have black in my roadster and it is terrible in the sun!

black/ red interior looks very corny & ghetto on a normal sedan- in my opinion. only on an M3, Z4, or sport coupe does it pull off the sportiness that gives the sharp contrast 2-tone its full panache. but, it's subjective i guess...

the new dakota leather is definitely firmer and slightly more textured than the previous. it still smells like leather, but actually feels more like a cross between leather and the leatherette- which, actually, is probably why it's more durable. either way, it's definitely much better than the leather i have in my 3.

use www.bmwusa.com "build your 3" feature to check out the color combos, and then go to a dealer showroom to feel the texture.

To add more to the mix, I hear 2-tone interiors are a "free" unadvertised
option. That's what a dealer said, anyway. It's not in the catalog, probably
because they assume most people are idiots, and would destroy the resale
values with silly color combos.

I personally love the 2-tone leathers. The red and black is hot, but I agree that it looks best on a 3er coupe, Z4, M6 or M3. I just don't like it on a sedan. Back in 1999, we did though have 2-tone leather on our C43 AMG sedan. It was black nappa leather, and a whitish/silver. It was SO hot. We called it our Pepe Lepu (skunk).

I have the Nevada, full leather, interior in my 08' 4.8i X5, and it's great. It feels very durable, thick and of a very high quality. The Nappa leather is softer and smooth, but not as durable. If you plan on keeping the car <5 years, then the Nappa will be fine.

I would not have minded a 2-tone leather option in the roadster, not sure I would care for it in the family sedan. I am not sure if it is a free option or not, interesting!
