hello all! I should be taking posession of a 2005 545i within the next few weeks. Found her via swapalease and couldn't have asked for a better car and deal. The car is orient blue with the beige interior and is gorgeous.. as soon as I get her, will definitely post pics.

In any event, just wanted to ask what everyone loves about their 5 series, preferably the 545... what everyone dislikes and what you wish you didn't have to deal with?

I did a lot of searching on this and other boards but haven't seen any pros or cons listing of the car.

I love the Bimmer so it's no question why I'm getting it, just curious to see what everyone thinks....

So I've learned that most E60 owners don't post about their cars or most people don't like the E60's... I guess that's why I'm not getting any responses...

Kinda stinks since I love forums and really use them as a huge resource...

Oh well.. if there's anyone out there who has an E60 and would care to share, I'd appreciate it.

I am not the best source of 5 series kudos. However I will tell you that I owned a 2004 530i and absolutely loved driving it.....BUT the iDrive issues that I had with that car made me sell it. I since have leased a 2006 525i and it appears that most of the iDrive issues have been worked out.

Just a heads up, there is NOTHING inexpensive with owning an E60, EVERYTHING is pricey as hell. My first service and oil change cost me 240 euro (300+- dollars) all they did is put a new air filter on, run a diagnostics check (3 mins) and change the oil.

The 545i is a beast and quite simply one of the fastest cars here in Germany, without the limiter you could hit 170-175 no problem. I will tell you though at 155, the front end gets real light, but maybe you won't have that issue with the heavier engine.

Sorry about the delay in response, nothing personal I just havent checked the newbie forum in a minute. Please post pics when you get the car.

I drive an 02 525i, sport/premiun package and absolutely love it, I'm up to 79k miles and so far its been going well, no major problems. Like tool fan said the maintenance is not cheap but if you're still in the warranty period then you should be fine and then maybe find a local bmw shop. I love everything about the car bumper to bumper my one con would be brake dust - I hate my wheels being dirty

tool fan, sorry to hear about your experiences with the 04 but something obviously brought you back... glad to hear that the 06 is better. Hopefully my 05 won't have issues. In the US all that maintenance is included, one of the main reasons why I prefer driving a Bimmer. I can't wait to to get her... I just turned in the paperwork to BMW Financial to assume the lease, hopefully the turnaround time won't be bad. Will definitely get pics up as soon as I have them. No worries on the lack of response... I've learned that E60's aren't everyone's favorite car out there.

Big Daddy, thanks for the welcome... appreciate it. Like the forums a lot, will be around for sure.

MTBL525i, ahh wheel dust... I hate that as well... but glad to hear you've had no other major problems with it. Thanks for the response!
