Hey Everyone, I just got a 95 740il and the CD Changer in the trunk wasn’t working. The spot on the info display that should say "CD" was blank and it wouldn’t eject the magazine. I took out the CD changer and tested it with a power supply and it came to life so I know it works and the car fuse was fine. I found the problem to be that water had gotten inside the trunk area (bad weather seal) near the bottom of the CD changer and rusted/corroded the wires where they enter on both the male and female connector so bad that the wires actually "feel out". I gave up on trying putting the wires back into the connectors. After a checking polarity with a volt meter I ended up splicing them directly together. I put the fuse back in and checked the unit, it had power so I pressed the reset button on the changer and looked on the dash, but no CD option on the HU . I went back to the trunk and checked the connector at the data cable and found that when I pulled it apart not only was it corroded but some pins actually "pulled out" of the connector since it had rusted threw. I now know that was my problem. My question is does anyone know if these wires are color coded so I could just spliced them together or will I need to get an entire new cable to run from the trunk to the HU and where do I get it? That doesn’t sound too fun but I’m a hardcore DIY'er. Is this a standard DIN connector I could get a radio shack? Thanks, Dwight
