Hey guys, my mom just picked up a 1989 325i for $1,500 for my brother. Bought it for him to learn on instead of her car (she has a 98 SHO) Car is in very good condition overall. Besides a little minor rust, the A/C non functional, and a broken power antenna, its almost perfect. Was my one of my mom's boyfriends BMW's (he also has a newer 530i) and it's been kept in excellent shape mechanically. Very nice car all around. Lots of cool features for an 89. Should be a good first car for him, except if something breaks I'd imagine the parts to be pricey...

Thought I should say something before you all asked why I didn't have a BMW in the signature[hihi]

Welcome yeah $1500 is a good deal if its mechanically sound. I got mine for $1975 with a bit of rust. But about a week afetr I got it I took it in because it would not idle porperly. Found my control arm brushings were shot total $800 of work. Then about 3 months later when I was having new pads put in I found that the brake pistons were nicle jammed and had to be cut out. Another $1000 in work. So I guess I paied about $3800 or so for it. But looks really nice you should get some interior shots up in here.

All the brakes were just done a day before we got it, to the tune off $600 something bucks![thumb] Interior is very nice, if it's not to dark when the car gets home I'll try and take some shots.

I had a 1989 Taurus SHO company car in 1989-90 when I worked for Ford Motor Credit. Damn fun to drive. 220 HP 5 speed. And the side bolsters in the seats would really lock you in. [thumb]

Actually I was driving a winter beater Honda Accord instead of my SHO, I got for $50 bucks, it really wasn't to bad, A/C worked and everything, plus it was a 5-speed!

Actually got a picture of that also! [hihi]


It wasn't to bad, kinda like a go-cart and the gas mileage ruled!

Ahh 89's were the fastest due to thier weight (didn't have airbags, ABS, etc.) Ugly dash on that year though...

Whenever I take someone for a ride in my car, that doesn't know what a SHO is, they comment on two things, how quick it is, and the seats.

We have a 1998 v8 SHO also, and I love it to death, but wish the seats had bolsters and it came in a stick. It makes up in other areas such as brakes and SARC (semi active ride control)

I had an Accord four door once. It was a ball to drive. I used to go whaling into off-ramps at 90 and slam it into third. The thing would track right around the ramp like it was glued to the ground. I put 120k miles on it (bought with 60k, sold with 180k) and went through two clutches. [thumb] It was still running great when I sold it. Great little car. Lots of room, too. [driving]

50 bucks!!!! AWSOME deal for a beater, I am looking for a beater now, just a backup for my BMW and the wifes Camaro.....how come I never car find a car for under 500 bucks.....you got a couple of great deals. Hell, for buying the honda for 50 bucks, you could throw a few hundred on it and make a pretty good profit.[thumb]

Actually you have no idea how true that statement is. I came to find out that the Accord I owned (just sold it tonight) was very rare. The exterior and interior color were both rare colors and the combination of both was even rarer. I was offered up to $1,300 for the car. I had to sell it by December 1st though, so I ended up selling it tonight for $150 bucks to a friend + work to the SHO.

Was a little saddened to see it go, just cause it was kinda rare and I could have made a killing off of it. Hell someone even offered me $175 bucks for the door panels and center counsel! [eek]

It was nice having a beater, that I really didn't care about, now I have to drive the SHO this winter and get it all rusty! [mad]
