Camshaft sensor

My camshaft sensor is busted, but I don't know if it's both or just one. I had a friend check it with the computer dealy. Anyway, I just called a dealership and they said it would be 308$ a piece + labor. Is this an easy fix that I can do myself for cheaper? Or is my best bet to just take it to the dealership and fork out the cash? Thanks in advance.

What year and model is your car, some of these were covered under a recall.

It's a 2000 323ci. I found the part at autozone for 120$ or so and I have a friend who can install it. But what's this about the recall?

Your year is not on a recall list, but which sensor are you buying for $120.00? Arizona AutoHaus, one of our sponsors sells them for: The one mounted at the cylinder head for the exhaust camshaft for $45.50 and the for the intake position is $99.20.

I buy parts from them all the time. Get a multimeter to help diagnose problems. It is almost a required tool when working on newer cars.
