Cruise control

this is a carbon copy of my 7-series section post, figured i'd get more traffic here.

OK, dumb question time, drove my car 200 miles today and although i think i know what the rest of the buttons do, I still have no idea how to turn the cruise control on, any clues?

I believe your cruise is always on, it is in my roadster and was in my 91 750. Simply push the cruise lever forward to set, then I believe up is accelerate and down is off, then in is resume..right?

I don't know man, I tried pushing it every which way, could never get it to set.

Pushing up (like you are signalling a left turn) turns it on, down turns it off, pushing it forward accelerates, pulling it back coasts, and pushing it straight in is the resume function.

Thanks man, I have a little bit of highway driving that is usually nearly empty of cars, so I'll get a chance to make it work.

I'm thinking it doesn't work or it was different for this model year or something. The lever says off both pushing it up and down, nowhere does it say on, and I've been trying for about 2 weeks now and can't figure it out.
