Curiosity: what is the timing of the blinking alarm light?

That blinking light in the windshield. How long is it on, then how long is it off? Like, is it on for 0.5 second, then off for 0.5 second? Are there different time intervals for different car/alarm models? Just curious. [drinking] [bmwdance]

It's on for a split second and then off for several seconds. I don't think there's any major difference btw the different models. It's just the light that blinks to let you know the car's locked.

Thanks. I did not have access to my car when I asked, but also wanted to know if all others were pretty much the same timing. Mine is like your description, on for a split second, then off a second or a little longer (hard to time).

Sounds right. It's not important. It's basically there just to let you know you locked the car without having to stare and try and figure out if the black little nubs on the doors are up or not.

The more important thing is that red button, if you don't have auto dimming mirrors, will change the angle to reduce glare. Just twist it.
