Hi everyone, first time posting here.

I've just started research for purchasing a new car, and the BMW 5 series is on my list.

I haven't visited a dealer yet, but bmwusa.com seems to have a lease offer for the 525xi - $539/month + 2500 down for 36 months

My question is, what sort of equipment am I looking at here for this price? Is this for a total barebones car, or something with at least the "basics" - i.e. automatic transmission, leather, xenons, etc.?

its barebones and usually 10k per year, but its calculated at msrp and most 5 series go for closer to invoice so really you would get that equipment (xenons, auto tranny and leather is premium pkg) for around that price.

Since when is a 525xi with auto transmission considered bare bones, and since when do they go for invoice? blah blah blah

If you want a good lease offer, go to the dealer and take a nicely equipped one off the lot... Put NOTHING down and expect to pay just around $600 a month for 12k miles a year. That's a good lease.

BMW's typically go for closer to invoice especially a 5 series, the new 3 goes for 700 over invoice and the x5? Direct Invoice, having owned 6 bmws in 3 years I can say I know a little something about BMW purchases.
