4 months ago I bought a beautiful 1988 735i with all available options and in pristine condition, with only 165.000kms. on it. Everybody, especially the Brits, talk about the E numbers on all of the BMW cars. What are they and how do I find out mine.

[welcome]
The E number is the Engineering code number that BMW designates to a car design.

Take a look at the STICKY message at the top of this forum. It lists all the Models and designations.

I think 1988 is right at the transition point between two 7-Series models. Throughout the majority of the 80s, the 7 was referred to as the E23 (i used to have one, great car). I think this os what you must have. Does your car have the 'shark-nose' front end? Damn i loved the E23... [bigcry]

Welcome BTW!
