I enjoyed reading some of the post and decided to join up. In a rock at a hard place at the moment. I currently own a 2003 A4 3.0 Quattro 6spd, except I wish to get rid of it due to some repeat engine problems that are now solved but got tired and depressed of taking vehicle in for servicing. I did not have any problems with my 2001 A4 1.8T Frontrak 5spd as much as this 3.0.

Solution is to buy a new 330i 6spd of course, or a C320 6spd; thus the hard place. Not which quite sure which. I've previously owned a 2002 325xi step and simply loved the car and the service. Thing is, should I buy the Mercedes and almost complete the cycle of fine German automobiles.

Another problem is the color scheme, I would like to get my new BMW red, but it isn't metallic. The metallic finish just looks better, so i'll probably end up getting silver or steel grey. And obviously silver in the Mecedes. My current Audi is black on black, bad idea for my current location in Central Calif.

Anyone have a complete solution to my problem? Thankyou for your help, it is very appreicated.

Godspeed.

Sounds to me like an Imola Red 235hp 6speed Performance package (zhp) BMW 330i is right for you. [burnout]

But it would be cool to say you've owned a nice new BMW, AUDI, & MERCEDES... Just don't forget porsche [:D]

I was just re-reading what i wrote, sorry if i came off...arrogant...Don't mean to be, just a German car enthustists.

Last night there was a program on the History Channel about the German Autoban on Modern Marvels, very informative show. Now i REALLY want to move to Germany, hopefully get stationed there. 212mph in a Porsche, must be nice.

The performace package is nice, except i want some of the premium package options that you cannot get with the performace package (i.e. Automatic-dimming inside rear-view mirror, 4-way power lumbar support for front seats) Also, i've seen a couple while i was in So-Cal for a while at the Valencia BMW Dealership. The Double Spoke (Styling 135M) cast alloy wheels, 18 x 8.0 front, 18 x 8.5 rear;,225/40R-18 front, 255/35R-18 rear performance tires, looked a bit funny to me. It looks great in the BMW Magazine, but upclose...I don't know.

Welcome to the forum. I like the 18" wheels that come with the ZHP Package. They don't look as aggressive as I would like them to, but they definitely look pretty darn good.

As for the C320, it is a very well-made car and a great car overall, but it's SO much better suited to an automatic transmission. Mercedes' aren't naturally fun to drive the way BMW and Audi vehicles are....Mercedes makes a damn good car, but every car has a very serious and luxurious attitude to it.
One thing that pisses me off about the C-Class's manual transmission is that you don't get a hand brake...you get a regular foot brake like on an automatic car. So that means you have 4 pedals to deal with and after you've driven around, you can't remove the key from the ignition unless you push the foot brake in...how stupid and annoying is that?

ya i bought this episode, used it for a school report and we watched the part when the porsche hit 212mph, with the 2 guys in the backseet so probably could go a little faster with one person, but its amazing how the autobahn is..

Wow - not only that, but what the hell are you supposed to do on a hill without the e-brake right in the center console? I know you can do it with your feet, but I find it so much more natural and easier to use the e-brake to hold the car in place while on a hill. BMW really has a perfect cockpit layout in the 3-series.
