I got mine from BMW dealer when I bought it. 4 years/50,000 miles to 6 years/100,000 miles full maintenance and limited warranty. They said it is a new thing just form last year.
I think that you can purchase the exteded warranty after the purchase of your car. At least we were able to do that on our buick. The cost goes up the longer you wait though. Another option is to purchase 3rd party warranties such as ones offered by AAA and Allstate Automotive Club. I'm not sure how they work though. I've always purchased extended warranties when I bought the car from the dealer and it's always ended up paying for itself.
The price changes depending on what you want for a deductable and your dealer should have all of these details. I ended up going with a $200 deductible rather than the standard $100 and negotiated down to $1600.
If I remember correctly the finance guy said I can do it before 3 months from time of purchase but you have to pay cash for it and cannot be included in the financing.
Have any of you guys bought extended warranty (standard 4yr/50,000 to 6 yr/100,000) for the new X3? How much would I have to expect? Do you guys happen to know the MSRP by any chance?
sales manager told me that you can buy the extended warranty and extended maintenance all the way up to the end of your standard warranty. i bought my car certified with 6k miles so it's got the 100k warranty. purchasing the extension of the maintenance to match the 100k warranty is an extra $1000.....well worth it IMO.....inspection 2 will cost close to that.

My inspection II costs 628.00 . Just talke dto them today while picking my car after schedule I . imo I would go for the 6/100k because you'll get the Schedule II and probably front and rear brakes and all the oil changes so you'll be way ahead..

Good insight, jonnyz16. As part of my total package, I managed to get the dealer to throw in half the cost of extended coverage. I think it only cost me $800, and it takes my coverage to 6 years 100,000 miles. Inspection II plus brakes and future oil changes (up to 100K mi) seems like a bargain for $800... or even $1600.
