Help me w/ a purchase

Should I buy a 98 328iC convertible w/50K miles for $17.9 needs new tires, Inspection 1 and there is a problem w/ the top something about "straps", the top is moving slow. Is this a $$$ pit? or a good purchase. I had a mechanic check it out. Everthing else is OK. HELP pleeeze

I would stay away from it. German used cars (especially ones with 50k+ miles already on them) are always a problem in the future.

Also, the car already seems to have problems with it, I recommend you STAY AWAY from it!

Keep looking around and you might just find an even better deal!!!

Mileage wise, it's a good deal and German cars can last way beyond 100k miles without any issues. The only concern is what he meant by the top moving slow.

That price is about standard for a 98 with 50k and I would say that the car needing tires and Inspection 1 service makes the car sub-standard. I would negotiate for the seller to either pay for the inspection 1, or knock $400.00 off the price. Then I would knock another $500.00 off for tires and get a BMW shop to estimate repairing the top. I have purchased two BMW's with more than 50k on them and never had any major issue with either. One of them now has 145k and still has had no major issues. The mileage would not worry me.

50k [mileage] on a '98 BMW is low...

Is Ebay a consideration [for you] buying a car?

You can search specific parameters (year/model) and most vehicles are car faxed,
offer 20+ photos of the car and come with some type of warranty.

With Ebay, you have to be able to travel to the sellers location but the [driving2] home in a new ride would be great ...
