hi. just thought i would introduce myself. im new to the bmw world & was planning on getting an e36. until i test drove an 89iX & fell in love. that car was not meant to be mine. doing research i really grew to like the e30s. i bought an 85 318i 4 door at an auction for $250 & i want 2 more (an iX & 325 both 2 door).

i almost didnt buy the 318i.. i glanced at it twice & on my way out noticed it had a turbo.. i decided to bid on it.

after getting the car i did some research & found the original owner by chance. his website for the car is... http://www.cardomain.com/id/gary318it

gary sold it to a guy that gave it to his teenage son that apparently couldnt drive. i guess the car was blown in a week. he told me he rebuilt the engine before adding the turbo. it is .050 over, most of the internals are new too (including the cam). he didnt give numbers but said he broke 2 cv's & the car was "very fast"

now i have it & it doesnt run to well. the engine wont rev far, i dont think the turbo is engaging, & it spits oil all over the place. the shifter is really sloppy, the interior is shot, 1 window motor doesnt work & 1 window is broke out. the seats are trashed & the dash isnt pretty. many of the gauges dont work. i am a novice mechanic.. the most complicated thing ive done was a clutch in a nova but w/the help of some friends & someone i met on the colorado bmwcca site i think my skills will improve & this car will be given a new life soon.

anyone else in the colorado springs area?

thanks guys. right now.. probably about 30hp LOL. when its done i really cant say as i dont have any experience with bmw or turbo's. but i know the stock m10 is around 105 so if its warmed over w/a small turbo & everything is running well... do u think 175 to 200 at the wheels is a good estimate?

sorry about the pop-ups/spyware.. i didnt even know. i use opera & its pretty much on lock down.

turbo cars are a pain in the rear. hope you get that puppy up and running. btw, you might want to take your turbo to get checked out by a shop that does turbo work, you just might need a overhaul on that thing.
