I just purchased myself a new M3 BMW and could use some helpful advise on keeping my rims cleaner, longer? And just the proper care for them. ALSO, any other advise you could give me for the rest of the car. Don't wanna learn the hard way. Any advise would be so very helpful.
Thank you,
Tommy

Stay on top of them so the grime doesn't build up and you should be able to keep them looking good. Buy a good wheel brush, and use a separate bucket for the wheels when washing the car. You don't want the wheel gunk mixing with the suds you use for the rest of the car. No acidic cleaners ever.

Every now and then I'll hit the wheels with Einzett wheel cleaner, but regular soap does fine as long as you clean the wheels regularly.

Wax the wheels. It will help keep dust off, and make them easier to wash. Use a polymer/synthetic wax, not a natural wax. The polymer wax will last longer under possible heating from the brakes.

There are a few "Wheel waxes" out there that claim to actually repel dust, but they are expensive, and don't know if they really work as claimed.

I use "wheel wax" and love it. It gives my wheels a nice shine, protects them and I notice less dust than in the past. Oh yeah and when I do wash the car the dust is easily removed.

Don't use your brakes... aside from that theres really no way to keep your rims clean besides frequent washing.
This is truly the best advise...heh

Seriously, besides waxing the only thing you can do is regularly wash the car/wheels.

BTW, the stock M3 wheels are a pain to clean. I spend over and hour washing just the wheels when I clean the car. I could do it faster, but I am a bit meticulous… [thumb]

I need to get some of that!! I hate cleaning my wheels. It is the one thing that makes me dread washing my car.

I usually clean the wheels first then wash the car top to bottom so the brake crap does't get on your car

Ceramic Brakes

I have had great performance and little dust with my ceramic brake pads. I drive fast but don't race. In a few "panic brake" maneuvers they have worked great, and seam as good as the OEM brake pads.
MUCH LESS DUST.

I tried Klasse on my wheels and didn't think it made the wheels any easier to clean

I use a wheel cleaner (P21S and Griots work well, so does Meguiar's). Spray it on, wait a few seconds then whipe the wheels down with a lambswool mit then hose off. Then I wash my car. When I do this every week or two I don't have much of a problem keeping the wheels looking good.

Sometimes if you don't have the time to spend an hour on your rims you can you use a detail spray and it will remove most of the grim on them. I use it all the time and they look great. I use Meguiar's Detail spray. I also use the Meguiar's paste wheel cleaner when I have the time to really detail them.. Makes them shine.. :O)
