jump start

my moms car needed a jump start today and it made wonder, if i ever needed to jump someone elses car, where do connect the cables to, the front terminal under the hood, or the actual battery in the trunk? also, if i needed the jump start, what would happen if i jumped the car by connecting the cables directly to the battery?

Hi

You have to do it from the terminals under the hood. Thats why BMW have those terminals there. Especially now the new cars have Battery safety terminal which in collision shuts down the power to prevent sparks.
