Hi all,

I've been reading the forums for quite some time and have finally decided that it is time to upgrade vehicles. I currently drive a 1999 cavalier and it just isn't doing it for me...
So i found a 2000 323i at a local BMW dealership here in Ottawa and heres the specs:
2000 323i (Certified Series)
Black on black leatherette
5 spd
80,800 km
In-dash CD
$25,900 (Canadian)

No sunroof though :(

What do you all think about this as a first BMW?

Also, I've heard some people say "three-two-three" and others "three-twenty-three" when referring to a 323...which is correct?

Thanks,

Andrew

Three-twenty-three is correct. Sounds like a nice car. Offer $20,000 and let them counter you. [kick]

PS
From your tittle of your post you must be a Tom L. fan???

Thanks guys...thats what I thought too, but the guy at the dealership was calling it a "three two three"...

I had a grin on my face all night after being around so many beautiful cars!

[welcome]

I normally say "three-twenty-whatever" or "three-thirty" but for some reason, I say both "three-two-three" AND "three-twenty-three" for the 323 model.

If you get it, call it whatever you want. It will be yours. [thumb] Only big no-no I think is to call your engine a V6 instead of the Inline 6 that it is.

Well, I was on vacation for a few weeks and didn't end up getting the car...I'm still looking around though. I am a recent graduate and don't have too much money so I'm looking for something around $20k. It sure is fun to look though. I'll have to test drive an M3 sometime just for kicks...I would need quite the raise to be able to afford that car!
Thanks for all the advice and making me feel welcome.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like a solid package, you got the ying-yang version of my car! [:D]
(2000 323i, 5sd, leatherette (mines tan) Even the no-sunroof option!) [confused]

It's a fine first BMW, not a speed hog, but you can have fun with it for sure. You will have permagrin for at least a week after you buy your first BMW!
