mp3 cd changer for 530i

I just bought a brand new 2004 530i with premium, sport packages and xenon headlights. i was surprised that the stock cd player does not play mp3 cd's. how do i go about getting an mp3 cd changer to connect to this stereo? any suggestions? how about the sirius satellite system -- has anyone bought that and what do you think of it? do i need to purchase these items from bmw dealer or can i get other units from the general marketplace that will interface with the existing electronics? Should I just get an aftermarket unit and have a separate controller?

You can replace the stock CD player with an Alpine CHA-S634 CD/MP3 player. The instruction is found here. This is for the M3, but the procedure should be similar if not exactly the same.

The only possible issue is, the 530i may be using fibre optics for its audio components. If that's the case, no aftermarket component can be added to the factory stereo unless it's a total swap. You may want to ask about it at a reputable car audio shop. I tried a local Car Toys but to no avail.
