Hello everyone, having not owned a BMW since I left Germany in 1991 I have found myself an ower of an odd-ball 5 series: the 533 csi. Anyone who can offer information on the relic will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all!

Oh, that explains it, I was pretty sure there was no such beast as a 535 csi, but I would not have bet that such a beast had not been produced and sold in some far away land.

The 633 CSI is a pretty sporty car and in good shape can be a very nice car indeed. Check out the 633 CSI information Page Also this page, BMW Information

Also are you sure it is not an 81?

Title says its an 83, can you tell me what place in the VIN will answer that for me?
Car is in great shape body-wise but I am still working on un-sticking the motor. Making another attempt this afternoon when my second driver gets here, I'll be sure to let you know how that goes. It was pretty funny yesterday......... LOL
Thanks for the links, I will be checking them out!

Well, the 'drag and dump' didn't work for getting the 3.2 unstuck so we tore the top-half of the motor apart over the last 2 days (total of a lil more than 8 hours). Now the motor/trans combo is about ready to come out.
Anyone have a trick for those over-torqued 10mm bolts they used in the bell housing?
They seem to be rounding easily even with a 6 point socket.
