I've decided to purchase a 2004 or 2005 5-series, but I really want the navigation system. I am having a hard time finding it any anything it, and if I do it is selling for upper $40's. I am seeing some good deals for upper $30's (2004) but no nav. I saw something somewhere about being able to add it aftermarket vehicles manufactured after a certain date, but now I can't find that info.

Any thoughts on the nav system? Is it a good one? Do people add it aftermarket?

Thanks!

Buy the best one you could find without sat-nav.

get on ebay and buy:

1. Monitor ( 4:3 screen much cheaper) but 16:9 best (biggest screen with split-screen function, it means that you can watch tv and nav same time)
2. electric wiring harnes (wires and plugs to connect everything)
3.nav computer (the dvd thing in the boot)
4.tv receiver (if you want to)
5.sharkfin for roof (outside aerial).

then:

go to any shop that installs car audio and negotiate them to install for you. If they are "worth their salt", they would have removed/installed similar/same systems.

why dont you get a small handheld model? £200 /$300 ?

hope this helps.
