Don't you use that before you buy the car.

Why will carfax put your mind at ease? They only report what is reported to police and government offices (DMV, etc.). For example I know of a guy with a 95 M3 that got rear ended, you could reach in the trunk without opening it. The owner and the guy that hit him resolved the accident without calling the police or reporting the accident. The car comes back clean from Carfax when in fact it has been severely damaged. Carfax is not fool proof.

Minor stuff would not bother me, i wanted to make sure it was not pulled out of a flood zone or had been a salvaged title. The dealer I bought it from has a 1 year buyback gaurantee. Never said it was fool proof.

And your example of an accident........that guy sounds like an idiot.

I understand but it has a "salvaged" title I think they have to tell you that up front, you could call BMW NA and ask them about the cars repair/service history, I did that with my roadster and they were very informative. Good luck!
