Hello. I am new to the BMW scene. I am looking to buy a commuter 318, but do not want to buy a certain year that may not be as good as another year. I am looking to buy anywhere from a 91-95 BMW 318. Any feedback about these would be very appreciated. I am looking for a 2 door, but if there are certain pros/cons between the two, please let me know. Thanks.

I had a 91 318is e30. These are great little cars and it would get up to 35mpg if driven nicely. Very sporty, however mine had numerous upgrades. I have never driven the e36 318 but hear that the e30 model is better. The e36 is a bit larger car than the e30.

If I had passengers and or children I would not get a 2dr. If it were just the wife and I or just me commuting, I'd get the 2dr.

I have a 1995 and like echothreezero said, once those issues are addressed the car is excellent as far as reliability. Although, I would suggest only getting a manual. I'd probably stay away from a 92, 93. There are very minute changes between 92/93 AND 95/96, but they make the car look more updated and feel newer.

Good luck. Sean

I had a 95' 318i and I loved it! I chipped it, did an intake. That car had awesome torque. Great car. I would go with a 95' or later alot less issues with the engine. the 95' was supposed to be the best.
