Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!

I am the new owner of a 1997 Black/Black 328i Convertible... I just got it yesterday as a wedding present from my wife!!!

THis is how it happened: I was still driving my motorcycle in the freezing cold of october when she said: "That's enough, you need a car, i know you don't have any money right now, (i am openning my own business) but i can't see you like that anymore...let's go buy a car... So we went all around town to find a car... Our first choice was a BMW 850... (My favorite...) but i told her that this car was too expensive to maintain...and that i don't have the money right now for a car like that...she was really sad, because that was her favorite car... so we kept on looking and looking...then at the end of the day, she found this 1997 328i convertible... and she said: "That's the one, i always wanted a convertible..." So here we go, we have a new car!!!

Now, tell me, did i make a mistake by not buying the 850???
Also, we need to find a hard top for it...any idea???

Thank you for creating this forum, hopefully, i will be able to help some of you in the future...

Also, i have all the equipement to make stickers etc...so if you need something let me know! I'll be glad to help you!

Olivier

PS: In my familly i owned quite a few of those BMW:
Mom: --> BMW 2007 Station wagon (Her first BMW ever...didn't get it yet)
Step Dad: --> BMW M5, BMW Station wagon serie 5, BMW M3, BMW serie 3 station wagon...now driving a volvo....what's wrong with him!???) I guess i got the virus of BMW from him...

count yourself as being lucky you didn't buy the 850. Yes it's a sweet car, but it's heavy, guzzles gas, and is expensive to maintain. Parts are easy to find (used and new) for the 328, and lots of people here have lots of knowledge about them. You'll love the convertible.

As for a hard top, check the papers, Ebay, whatever... you'll probably have an easier time going to a dealership... that way you'll get the right colour.
