I am currently stationed overseas and i just bought a 1980 520. E28 I believe? By the time I leave I can ship it back to the states. I was wondering if it will be worth it to ship back. Also I am wondering if there any web sites that sell aftermarket, OEM, or performance parts for older BMW's.

Hmm - shipping back a 1980? I guess it depends on the condition if it's worth it. You can actually use the same company that BMW uses - EH Harms (search the net). They handle new and used car shipments. When I dropped my car off for shipment to the US after I did Euro Delivery, there was a military guy who was dropping off his car to ship to the US at the same time.

I would guess that the costs would be similar to the cost incurred by BMW for shipping a new car - around $500 - $800 maybe?

Well it wont cost my a dime to ship it back to the states since im military. The cost will go under my orders. I also wont have to worry about converting it to US specs d2 the age of the car. It will clear customs.
