Hi, I'm new to the forum. I'm a prospective owner looking to get the 3 Series 328i or xi. I know the xi is AWD but could one get by in the winter with just rear wheel drive 328i?

Also how often do they change the body style? I'm thinking about the '07 or '08 but would wait another year if they are planning to change it as I would have it for 3 years.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.............

The new 3 Series sedan debuted as a 2006 model year. If BMW sticks to tradition, this body style will last 6 years. In the last 2-2.5 years of a model's life, BMW will generally give the car a mild face and ass lift (as well as modify, and generally fix quirks and issues).

Thanks for the info!

Also any advice on the 328i vs 328xi re: winter driving........... i.e, can I get by with the 328i? (cost being the factor).

Thanks........

Of course you'll get by... we all do. I drive a 525i 5spd in the winter, my GF and my Mom both drive 325i's in the winter, and none of them have been a problem. I don't know that a NJ winter would be any different from a winter here in Toronto. A good set of Blizzaks will do the trick.
