1st time with forum and 1st BMW.
I have 1 740il-1997 - 60k w/nav. I keep blowing the #46 fuse. The wiring diagrams I find show that fuse feeds the DSP-Telephone-radio. The radio will die after 20 minutes but the screen still lights up. I can't do anything on the screen(nav) at that point. Also the front speakers are out all the time. I have removed the phone parts in the console but still the same effect.
My question, Is the DSP the common factor here or am I overlooking something?
Can the DSP be bypassed/replaced? Will a shorted speaker shut down the DSP?
Where is the DSP located?
Thanks for any help

oh my e36 m3 when i first got it the radio only would read "PHONE" so i pulled the radio out and cut the wire for the phone and it has worked perfectly, I think the prewireing got grounded some how and was causing it to think the phone was being used. I dont know if this will help you at all, If all else fails you could take it to the dealer
