Is it true that we don't haveto make oil change til 15000 miles? This sounds a little troubling to me [8], I am used to changin oil latest 3000 miles.

Pure synthetic oil, 15,000 miles all the way. At about 5,000-6,000 miles you might need to dump one or two quarts of oil in just so the engine keeps running, new engines usually burn oil the first few thousand miles. Your car will tell you, when you hit around that mile marker your car will start beeping excessively (it’s confusing), but just check the oil and that’s all it needs, the beeps will start and don’t stop you can turn off your car and it will keep beeping. BTW BMW recommends Castro Synthetic Oil!

karamian, I've done some extensive studies, using a quality synthetic oil. if you intend on extended oil drains, (15,000 to 25,000) depending upon oil type, I would recommend replacing the filter every 5-7,000 miles. Check your fluid level every time you gas up and top off as needed.

I use Synthetic and change it very 4-6K depending on how long it takes me to get there as mine is mostly a weekend car, but the way I look at it is an oil change is cheap compared to a new car or repairs!

we've got BMW's extended maintenance. They change it every year or 15,000 miles, whichever comes first. I'm gonna do it myself once I hit the 6000 mile mark or so. The oil lasts much longer than the filter so if you're really cheap, you can just change the filter every 5K-7K or so. Only cost you about $10 to do so.

BMW recommends Castrol Synthetic, but I don't consider it real synthetic so when I change it myself, I'm just gonna go with Mobile 1.
