Hello,
I am new to this forum and new to BMW's in general. I have a buddy who is selling his 2001 330i (Manual tranny, all upgrades) only 23,000k miles, absolutely perfect. He is asking only 20k. This car will be for my wife who commutes 40 miles per day. Will this car be safe and reliable? And will the maintenance costs be affordable?
Will the RWD be horrible in Colorado?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
hglauth

That car is safe, and BMWs are pretty reliable if well maintained and not abused. I'd ask for the service records and do a carfax. Oil changes are $100 at the dealer every 15k, and brakes can be 1k which it probably needs soon since it's got 23k and was driven city probably for 5yrs... If everything checks out I'd go for it, maybe try haggling on the price a little since 20k is a little high for a 5 yr old car. RWD is fine with snow tires and gentle driving...
