Hey guys, well I'm new to this forum. I've been thinking for quite a while whether which car to buy and I decided to get a BMW 330Ci; but my mom thinks otherwise. We had a talk about the pros and cons between a 2D and 4D. Saftey issues most likely. Well anyways, I still want the 2D because I love the look of the coupe rather than a sedan. And so I want to know your opinions. I know you all are BMW lovers, so any information would be great. Thanks! [:)]

The BMW 330ci coupe is just as safe as the sedan. The coupe has side protection air curtains, and re-inforced side impact doors, along with side airbags. You can feel the weight and solidity of the coupe's doors...it's awesome. If you take a lot of passengers with you, then of course, it's much easier and practical with the 4 door. If it's going to be mainly you, and 1 other person...then go for the coupe. Since you said the 330ci, I'm assuming you're looking at a pre-owned E46, not the new E90 335i coupe. I think the E46 looks better as a coupe, but I think the E90 sedan looks generally better than the coupe (although I'm really beginning to like the new coupe). Good Luck!

Thanks, well shes just basically saying like if something were to go wrong, then it would be dangerous because the only way for them to get in/out would for us to move the seat up. Thats basically what shes saying, and it would be a hassle to let other people seat inside. I just like the 330Ci better than the 330i. The 330Ci's faster too. Yeah, I'm looking to get a preowned certified car. Cant find any good prices with the m3's though.

I guess, just like in the long run, would it be better to take the 330Ci or the 330i. I was set on the 330Ci cause I really like the style and speed, but after many talks with my mom about it, shes causing me to rethink. Sedan or Coupe? I cant decide anymore...

Hey and welcome. Both cars are safe as has been pointed out, but if you generally have more than one passenger, it can become a pain to constantly move the seat and let people in and out, especially in car parks as the doors are much longer and heavier than the sedans. The 330ci is not at all faster than the 330i by the way, same engines, 170kw inline 6 cyl. =) Hope that helps, but let us know what you choose.

I have the 4 door and use the rear doors all the time. I throw my gym bag back there. When I haul stuff to the recycling center I can load big bins in the back seat. I've hauled 10' long lumber home with the lumber sticking out the rear windows. If I'm carrying my bike or skis I use the back seats. I don't see any advantages to having a 2 door. Safety-wise I don't think it really matters. Actually what I think is UNSAFE are car doors that lock automatically when you put it in gear (mostly American cars).

Carrying Lumber ?? I didn't know BMW made a Pickup ! LOL

seriously though...I like the 4 doors...More roomy like some of the others said...and I like the look of the 4 door much better...Good luck with which ever you choose ! When I bouhgt mine I was eyeing up a nice red 330ci...but the 4dr 528i just felt and rode too good to pass up...plus there is room for a couple a 2x4's in the back [;)]

Haha, thanks for all the info guys. Im actually looking at the 330i more now that I think about it. The 335i seems nice too, but might be a bit to expensive for me, haha.

I've seen enough accident reports to say the 4 door is safer than the 2 door if you carry more than 2 people. Both are the same comfort wise, altho it is a bit harder to get in/out of the back in the 2 door. But in a crash, if you're in the back, you want that extra set of doors/windows.
