Question: Wheel Offset?

I have a question about offset since I am looking into purchasing some new wheels for my car in the future and I have never done this in the past.

Right now I have a 2004 330Ci with the Sport Package and the additional 18" rims.

The front tires are 225/40 ZR18 and the rear ones are 255/35 ZR18.

The rims I am looking at are either the:

ASA AR1 --> Offset: +40 front/+45 rear

or the

Breyton Imagine --> Offset: +42 front/+42 rear
http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/breyton/swap/breyton_imagine_ci3_l.jpg

These offsets are what tirerack showed for my respective tire sizes. I'm pretty sure the front offset is +40mm on my car but I am not sure about the rear offset. Where do I find this out? Are you allowed to put on rims that have a different offset than the stock car itself? I have no idea! Will these fit on my car without problems?

Someone please help! Thanks!

I'm probably going to sell them along with my car...whenever I decide to do that, nice try though! [hihi]

You really like these 18" ones? I've had them for almost 3 years now so I'm getting a little bored of them... [xx(]

Plus, the dealership put a huge scratch on one of the rear ones and they had it "redone" to look like brand new. But if you look closely enough you can tell the difference between it and the other 3 rims. [chair]
