Hello all,
Yup I'm a newbe, and I was wondering what some of ya thought.
I am looking at a 1997 328i with 154,000 miles, looks pretty clean, haven't drove it yet but thinking about doing that soon, they are asking $5500 usa.
I was just wondering, how many miles can ya expect, I know theres exceptions(like how they've been treated and what not, but just a guideline)
What kind of problems to expect with a bimmer with that many miles, stuff like that.
Any help would be worth tons to me and thanks in advance.

By the way, my name is cody and I'm from S. IL

from experience:
radiator may leak
power steering hoses will crack
the damn aux. fan will die
fan blades will warp (maybe it was just mine)
water pump will need to be replaced (very easy to do)
exhaust will have leaks

btw, i had a 96 328is from 98k to 181k.

If it was well maintained, it could go another 50K - 100K miles easily.

In additional to manuel's items, at some point you will need shocks/struts (a nice medium difficulty DIY job). The engines on these cars seem to be pretty strong. I can't recall any posts here where things like pistons, bearings, rings, etc. had failed. They just need regular PM like any fine machine.

You should probably budget at least $1000 in the next year or so for possible work.
