Another Newbie

Hi and Welcome to the Board. I'm new myself and ordered a BMW 330i about a month ago....it's now in the North Atlantic making its way to me [:D]

As far as cars, If you want the best in terms of performance, handling, etc (sportiness), then I think BMW is your ticket...although it is more expensive.

Another car I studied hard before I made my decision was the Audi A4, I think you may want to give that one a look as well.

Just my 2 cents.

Good Luck with your search.

I also had to choose between the E46 and G35.

The BMW coupe will still be the E46 model in 2005. The 2005 models should already be in production so I think the sedans are the E46 model in 05 as well.

Choosing between the G35 Coupe and a 330ci really depends on your priorities. If it's just purely performance and price, the G35 Coupe wins. If you are talking about interior room, trunk size, quality of the interior, overall feel of driving, and perceived status, than the 330ci easily wins. I think they both look good on the outside so it's a wash there. I found the sedan hideous so I never considered it, even though it's much roomier than the 3 series (unlike the coupe for some odd reason).

Either way, you won't make a mistake. Both are top rated cars. I love the ride and feel of the BMW (I've owned 5), but my next purchse might well be the G35 coupe. I really don't like the look of the 4 door.

Drive them both, extensively. More than the 'drive around the block'.. If you can't make a decision on the cars based on their stastics, then you certainly need to spend time in both, the heck with what we have to say here.. [:)]

The G35 is a great car, performance wise. As someone said, the 4 door looks a bit awkward to my eye. (The coupe is niiiice). Ride can be bumpy (theres that performance!), and if down the road you look to modify it in any way, it'll be alot cheaper than a BMW. Interior is not the best, sort of 'plastic' feeling. All in all, a 8.5 out of 10 (imo)

The 330i is a great car performance wise as well, somewhat dumbed down by BMW so as to reach a broader market. It's more luxurious than a G35. It handles as well as a G35 if not marginally better. It will cost you more to maintain in the long run, how much depends on how well you take care of it. A 9.5 out of 10 on my scale (imo) (You aren't just paying more for nuthin'!)

Not lawyerspeak, but pretty close to it, eh? [:D]

2005 apparently has some big changes. The Infinitis get a near upgraded interior. The new 3 series sedan is supposed to be out? I'd hold on and wait to compare those before finally deciding.
