I am going to replace the factory stereo in my 90 535i this spring (car is under a foot of snow and I don't drive it in the michigan winter) I purchased the stereo and CD changer for it from Crutchfield and was informed I had to purchase another small unit to make the factory amplifier work with the Kenwood unit. Wondering if anyone else has done this and if they know if there is enough room in the dash for the adaptor behind the stereo or am I going to have to wire in extension wires and remote mount the adaptor unit. I know I could probably find this out just by pulling the factory stereo, but i'm impatient and the car is a major part of a snow drift right now.

Its not a fancy powerful set up, just a new cassette receiver and 6 disk changer.

any input is greatly appreciated

Crutchfields is usually pretty accurate about what you need. I would assume that anything they sell would fit in the stock position unless they specify otherwise. They should have given you an installation guide and have an 800 number for assistance.
