my 545 took 8 days from landing in Charleston SC to arriving at dealership in New Orleans. Assume 2-3 to process from port to VPC, 2-3 days at VPC and 2 days enroute (maybe less). These are not actuals, but rough estimates based on the 8 days it took.

I live in Upstate NY. Will my car find its way to a NYC port or do all BMW land in SC. I have seen SC being mentioned several times but never NYC. My car has an estimated completion day of 3/31, just trying to figure out when it might arrive.

Any idea? Thanks

I believe cars destined for the northeast land in New Jersey. Rough estimates: car completed on 3/31, maybe 7-10 days waiting to load on ship, 10-14 days transport, maybe 7-8 days VPC/transport to dealer. Roughly end of April would be my guess, but could vary widely depending of ship loading, back log at VPC, etc. If you get lucky and a ship is loading when you car is made, it could be on its way quicker.

By my best estimate, mine was 9 days from the port of entry in Long Beach, CA to my dealer in the Bay Area. But you'll probably not be able to learn when your car reaches the VPC. I was unable to get any information from my dealer, the OC website, or the 800# on the status of the car after it left Germany.

supposedly cars for east coast delivery are still coming in on Willnius (forgive my spelling) and can be tracked on their website. West coast cars are now shipped through a different shipping co. that you can't track online. There is a link somewhere on this forum but I only have it bookmarked at the office. sorry I can't give it here.

My car arrived in the VPC in Southern Cal on 12/19/2003 and got to the dealership in Seattle on 12/31/2003. It includes the 2-3 days the truck got stuck in south Oregon due to the I-5 closure caused by heavy snow.

News on tracking

I'm new to this, but thanks to the site I've been able to track my new 530. for those of you who wish to know the shipping company used is Wallenius. They have a ship leaving germany at least once a week, from what i can tell on mondays, but the OC wont show it until about mid-week. The web address is www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp
once there you'll find a place to track cargo. enter the VIN from the OC under auto. the ships going east coast stop in NY (actually NJ). Then to baltimore then SC. I'd advise calling your BMW center a day or two after the ship arrives to see if they have found anything out about delivery. I hope this helps the frustration of waiting.

Just FYI, the ports to stop depends upon the vessel. For instance, the ship that carried my car did not stop at SC.
