Hello my fellow fanatics...
I just purchased a 1995 M3.. I have been staring at these on ebay for several years now. I first read about them close to ten years ago. Finally my dream has come true. I purchased mine off a lot here in town. It was on consignment. The previous owner replaced it with a 2003 e46. It was a one owner with 95k on it. I went from driving a 2001 Toyota 4Runner with 50k to this. I was a little nervous because of the mileage, but I found out that the car has been serviced by one mechanic. I talked to the mechanic and he said " that is one of the most meticulously maintained BMW's I know of in existence" SOLD!
I have owned the car for a little over a month.. I am very pleased... A couple things I would fix... It does have some interior squeeks, kinda annoying. And a brake light circuit failure displays periodically on the computer...
I drive the car to and from work... A fun filled thirty mile trip one way... I don't plan on taking this car to the track... I have been thinking about purchasing a chip.. I read online that it helps the car breathe better. The article said something to do with the emissions.... I need a reliable M3 but want to have the best performing most reliable M3... Do any of you think that adding a chip would harm the life of my car. My driving habits are fun but not wild.. I haven't dumped the clutch once since I purchased the car... I typically keep the rpm under 5000.. Is this to cautious... Please share any knowledge you have... With driving habits and longevity of the 3.0 engine...

Thank you for your time.

i just got a 1998 m3 it is safe to take the engine all the way to redline (above 6500). hell i took my 1991 318is up to 7000 rpm (with a chip of course) and it had over 160000 miles on it and it runs prefect. if i was you i would go for the chip it wont damage anything and you can always take if off.

Jordan,

Thanks for the comments. Have you installed a chip on your M3?

Big Daddy,

Thanks for the hospitality and the link....

I am so excited.... A bit obsessed about all of this.
