You DONT know, so dont post w/out looking 2 threads down on the list [thumb]

he stole the vin from a car on auto trader, and we could tell easily that it was an e32 not an e38.

He probably did that but how stupid was he to copy the VIN of a car that is not even close to the year he was talking about. As I said before, this guy is very creative and very stupid.

It is amazing that you guys dissected him like you did.
Especially EPJ3, Vance, Pistol, and Wadula. You guys really know your "shit". I am the proud owner of a 5 series with a I6 2.5L Engine in it. It is a '99 523i. BHP is quoted at 170 but sometimes I think it has more than that. I cant check because I dont know where I can put it on a dyno at.....sigh. Anyway can you experts tell me anything good about a 523i? I cant find info anywhere on performance upgrades for it and it is making me think of giving it back and getting a 3 series.......til then keep sharpshooting the lying mother[Censored][Censored][Censored][Censored]ers!!!!

nice one you got there, compliment. i like the color.

the x23 in general is a nice car. i have 323 built 1998. the enigine has the reputation to put out more power than in the papers. the reason is, that it is a caponized 325. it has 2495 ccm, so almost 2.5 liters. bmw did some changes to it such as inatke manifold, exhaust system, electronics and some other stuff that lower the hp. unfortunately i have no idea what there really is to do to lift the car to 192 hp. everybody has a different opinion, heard something different and knows something else. that's a sealed book to me and i gave up the research.
anyway, the word is that the x23 sometimes put out like medium 180's and more. at the end of the day a pretty good engine.

as far as the 5 series itself is concerned, i consider you to ba lucky man. it is a beautiful car. my mom has a 5er too, and i just love that car.

mods...are you in germany or from germany? depending on where you are, the contacts and sources for tuning stuff will be different.

cheers

I would try the usual companies, of course depending on what you want.

cheap stuff for in and exteriour is for example D&W. They have a ricy reputation, though [hihi]

Then there are the classics like Hamann , Kerscher , Alpina Kelleners , MVR , Rieger , G-Power

and so on....what are you looking for?
Just a performance chip, exhaust(headers all the way back), CAI if it is worth it (I've seen some pretty animated discussions about the pros and/or cons of CAI filters).

gpower is expensive but offers exactly what you need.

in general there are hundreds of chips available. just use google.de, type in chiptuning and take 4 hours of time to browse the results. http://www.hs-elektronik.com/start.html is one that heard good about.

for exhaust try the manufaturer themselves. remus, sebring, bosi, bosal, hundreds out there as well. i had a remus muffler once and that thing was great. a little loud but dark and did not change sound at all. very good material

Well, if the first engine picture was a "before" and the 2nd was an "after" picutre, you should go back and ask them if you can have your other 2 cylinders back, and tell them to put it back into V instead of an inline [rofl]

LOL that is what i was wondering, i thought it was a 8cly also

This has been a funny @$$ post. I too, would have like to see how far he could have taken it. Just makes you wonder how many posers really are out there and to what extent. [thumb]

actualy it is not... and no i have a 740il... i removed the cover and driopped the engine lower because all my stuff didnt fit when i tried to close the hood.... i had to tear apart the engine and drop it 3 inches to fit everything... that was the major complication... i had about 5 guys working on that over the winter and they had complications also... my engine is just totally redone... but when i bought it in 1997 at fields bmw it was a 740il...atleast that is what they sold me... im positive it is a 74oil...i have an appointment for my quarter mile run and a dyno test a corkrin track at 3:00 so ill let u guys know when i get back. And yes that is wha t i posted but the lid that says m power was off and when u take off the lid on the 740 they look similar.
So is this car a 97 or an 01....the vin provided says its an 01......hmmmmm

And if it older its not an 01.
